How the outcome will be if immigration reform bill is passed and enacted ?
Ive read many news on the internet. and many people share different views on the bill, especially the one made by "gang of eight".
Some says that it will help fix the immigration system. While other says it will be an amnesty, which means it will benefits the illegal immigrants.
I dont know what are the chances of this bill getting passed.
What do you think about this ? Will this be a good thing or bad thing for future immigration ?
Answer: I believe this bill will be a bad thing for the country.
See, people don't understand that we tried this already. In 1986, the government passed amnesty (Ronald Reagan in fact signed it into law), and they promised us that this issue will never return ever again. But here we are 27 years later, and the issue is looming large. You learn from your mistakes. 1986 was a mistake. Don't do it again.
I also think the timing is not good. The economy is terrible, as it has been for the last six years. Twenty-Two million Americans are out of work. In a time like this, how can you argue that we need to legalize eleven million illegal aliens and put them permanently into the workforce? You have to help yourself before you help others. If Americans are not working, don't try to give Mexicans a job.
Furthermore, the bill is estimated to cost $6.4 trillion. Where are we getting this money? The deficit is already sky-high, and they want to pile it on even more.
The bill undermines the rule of law. All of America's founding fathers spoke highly on this concept -- in a democracy, laws must prevail. When you break the law, you have to take the consequences. Amnesty simply lets people evade the consequences of their actions, and that is not right.
I understand right now people are worried about the Latino vote, especially after the 2012 election results. But I say do what you think is right. Don't worry about votes. If illegal immigration is wrong, don't support it, even if Latinos will get on your side. I would rather not have Latinos on my side if it means I have to support illegal aliens.

How does this new immigration bill make sense?
I am really not understanding who in this country believes that the majority of illegal immigrants are going to stand up and say "Hola. Estoy aqui. Put me in the back of the line because I dont want to live in America for free and live off of the LEGAL citizens anymore. Heck, I even want to pay back taxes!"
How many will actually fess up and how far will America be run into the ground if this bill ever passes?
If this goes through, it will cost us BIG TIME! Welcome to the United States of Mexico. Adios.
On the other hand, the fence idea, THAT I support!
mmm...chocolate.
Answer: It makes no sense, that's the problem.

Senate Passes Immigration Reform 68-32 | FDL Action
Today, Speaker Boehner equivocally said he will not allow any immigration bill to pass the House unless it has the support of a majority of House Republicans. So far the House Republicans caucus remains mostly ...
How would America be different had McCain and Palin won the election, what would unemployment levels be like?
and how would the state of our economy be?
What progress would we have seen from them, since republicans seldom ever pass any laws or reform, and wasnt it a good thing that President Obama reformed all the corrupt systems that were taking advantage of Americans
Answer: McCain was a moderate before being pushed to the right to keep his job in the last election, so not much would be different in the way he and Obama have managed things. We'd be fully backing wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and maybe Iran, so perhaps the stimulus would help the economy. There would certainly be plenty of shovel-ready jobs for our kids over there too. Carbon Taxes and Health-care reform would be off the table, but Immigration Reform along the lines of the 2007 Kennedy-McCain bill would be on.
God help us if McCain died and Palin got in. She is not only stupid, she is unpredictable.

President Obama - just today - challenged America to be more active in immigration reform than ever before. He made this ask, knowing the Senate will most likely vote on the S. 744 immigration reform bill in mid-June, and we dont just need every Democrat on our side - we need Republicans too.

The Democrats at UCLA are acknowledging that Obama is an economic flop. Meaning that Yahoo Democrats are beyond rehab & recovery.
A new study from UCLA shows that the economic recovery is the pits, which you already knew if you live outside DC. - Matt
The country’s tepid growth in its gross domestic product isn’t creating enough good jobs to build a strong middle class, according to a UCLA report released Wednesday.
Were going to need to pass this bill with strong bi-partisan support in order for the legislation to survive, which is why its imperative your Senator hear from you now. Legislative strategists have determined that it takes at least 100 calls per day to sway how a Senator votes. Just 100 calls a day can make or break a piece of legislation.
Back when I was a West Los Angeles Playboy Bunny living near UCLA and Sunset Blvd, I got 100 calls a day. Call me collected, I wanna be Elected. With my current neighbor Alice Cooper Scottsdale AZ 85258 My New City of Angels.

What is the difference between NAFTA allowing meixcan trucks to drive through our country?
and turning our ports over to a Saudi company. The only difference i see is that thousands of Mexican trucks coming into our country is a bigger threat to national security because of the vast numbers that will be coming in. This will not stand just as the immigration bill they tried to ram down our throats did not stand so I say to you it is time to let the American people be heard email your senators call your senators email the white house call the white house let them know we are not going to allow our soverignty to be destroyed this will not stand
Answer: Oh come off it, the government passed NAFTA because they wanted to get cheaper stuff from Mexico and Canada. Indirectly, this is why Americans dislike Mexico so much (have you ever noticed that countries that we get cheap stuff from tend to be the ones we're most afraid of--china for example?)
Mexico isn't a threat to national security. When was the last time we were attacked by Mexico? The Mexican-American War?
But I would agree with you that we should police the borders better, because a lot of meth and stuff is imported illegally from Latin America.
Thanks to NAFTA, however, packaged goods are printed both in French and in english. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't know that "lotion pour le corps" was french for "body lotion."

How many stamps does Sarah Palin have in her passport?
Sarah Palins Passport. I think it tells a lot about a person and their ability to get along with different groups of people, cultures and diverse opinions on how many countries they have visited.
Answer: To all of you people who think that NOT owning a passport is not a big deal: think again. THINK about it.
She is one step away from the President of the United States: the most powerful nation on Earth. We live in a diverse, globalized society and for a person to not have at least SOME international experience/perspective is frightening. It really does matter.
It is perfectly fine for a person to not have a passport - but not someone who is vying for the second office in the nation. Are you kidding me? My husband just got his passport in 2007 and he is 30 and NOT running for office. He was the one who broke the news to me because he was extremely shocked by it.
Not having some significant experience traveling outside of the U.S. is a vivid indication of the scope of her experience. If McCain dies or something happens to him - as has happened to other presidents in this nation's history - then this individual will become President.
We are already falling behind because of the policies of the Bush Administration. (Bush, by the way, is another "non-traveller") We really can't afford someone like her on the ticket.
I am a registered Independent. I can tell you that Obama is a risk (worth taking). His credentials far outweigh hers (besides the traveling):
(Source DailyKos)
1980 - 1984
Obama: B.A. in political science with a specialization in international relations from Columbia University.
985 - 1990
Obama: moved to Chicago; became a community organizer as director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a church-based community organization on Chicago's far South Side. During his three years as the DCP's director, its staff grew from 1 to 13 and its annual budget grew from $70,000 to $400,000, with accomplishments including helping set up a job training program, a college preparatory tutoring program, and a tenants' rights organization.
Moved to Boston to attend Harvard Law School. Selected as an editor and then elected president of the Harvard Law Review, a full-time volunteer position functioning as editor-in-chief and supervising the law review's staff of 80 editors.
1991 - 1995
Obama: graduated magna *** laude from Harvard Law School; received contract and advance to write a book ("Dreams from my Father") as well as a fellowship at the University of Chicago Law School. Directed the Illinois Project Vote from April to October 1992, a voter registration drive with a staff of 10 and 700 volunteers that achieved its goal of registering 150,000 of 400,000 unregistered African Americans in the state, leading Crain's Chicago Business to name Obama to its 1993 list of "40 under Forty" powers to be. Appointed as a Lecturer in constitutional law at the University of Chicago. Joined Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a 12-attorney law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development. Active in several community organizations, usually as a board member.
1996 - 2000
Obama: promoted to Senior Lecturer in constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School. Elected to the Illinois Senate.
Sponsored more than 800 bills. In 2000, lost a Democratic primary run for the U.S. House of Representatives to four-term incumbent Bobby Rush by a margin of two to one.
2001 - 2004
Obama: reelected in 2002 and became chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee.
2005 to present
Obama: Sworn in as the fifth-ever African-American U.S. senator. Worked with Republican Senator Lugar to author and implement a program to locate and dismantle stray Russian WMD's. Designated by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as the party's point man on ethics. Worked with Russ Feingold to pass a major ethics/lobbying reform bill. Cosponsored, with John McCain, the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act. Called for increased fuel efficiency standards (3 percent every year for 15 years). Assignments on the Senate Committees for Foreign Relations, Veterans' Affairs, and Homeland Security. Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs. As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa. Waged a tremendous battle to become the Democratic presidential nominee. Currently manages 2,500 campaign employees and a budget of $40-$50 million/month.

I think majority of both parties agree that illegal immigration needs to be handled differently.
The thing is, you never hear anything about it, while illegals cost this country $338 billion per year.
When will politicians step up and do something about this?
New laws.
No more sactuary cities.
More deportation.
Harsh penalties for businesses that hire.

TIME for DIVORCE
Subject: Democrats and Republicans
Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists,
Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:
We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this
latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I
know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future
generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two
ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is
right, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile, slate it up
to irreconcilable differences, and go on our own ways.
Here is a model dissolution agreement:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each
taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two
sides can come to a friendly agreement.
After that it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives
can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct
and disparate tastes. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep
them.
You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU..
Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA
and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell
(you are however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big
enough to move them).
We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical
companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street. You can have your beloved
homeless, homeboys, hippies, and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot
Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's, and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles
and give you NBC and Hollywood .
You can make nice with Iran , Palestine , and France and we'll retain
the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the
peaceniks and war protestors. When our allies or way of life are under
assault, we'll provide them job security.
We'll keep our Judeo-Christian Values. You are welcome to Islam,
Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClain. You can have the U.N. But we
will no longer be paying the bill. We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks,
and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you
can find.
You can give everyone healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors
(that is practicing, Howard Dean) who will follow to your turf (sic).
We'll
continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.
We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and The National Anthem. I'm
sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World
to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.
We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up
poverty its best shot.
Since it often so offends you we'll keep our History, our Name, and our
Flag.
Would you agree to this? If so please pass it along to other like minded
patriots and if you do not agree just hit delete and hang on.
In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR on who will need
whose help in 15 years.

How do you give up to 30 million undocumented illegals amnesty when they have no documents?
About 20 million do not have any finger prints on file in America data bases. So how do we give amnesty to illegals who have no documents other then fake or stolen ones ?
Answer: You don't! You enforce the laws that are already in existence and the honeypot (jobs) dries up and they self-deport. You change the anchor baby law so they stop coming across the border to pop out US citizens who collect welfare for 18 years. You stop giving them legal assistance, free medical, sanctuary cities, free run of our cities and freeways, subsidized utilities, free education, and other various welfare subsidies, and again, they self-deport. How much will this cost?? NOTHING!! The laws already exist, and there's no expense in rounding anyone up, nor shipping them back. It's too simple for our government to figure out and they would lose their source of Big Business and Ag industry political contributions, so WE the People will have to kick and scream and be in their faces 24/7 to ever get any anti-immigration bill to pass. People are so fed up now though that it's possible.

How many people in your circle left the republican party and voted democratic?
I personally know of 15 people who were embarrassed with how the election process played out. My friends are mulicultural and educated and they were embarrassed to be associated with the republican party after Palin and McCain had their rallies. One of my friends went to one of their rallies and walked out when he heard racial slurs. Very sad and the republican party has to change their image to revive itself from its own peril.
Answer: None. Also no one that voted for Obama too. You people need to wake up. The Democrats and Republicans are going to take this country onto the same path, no matter whose in charge. I hope you guys like relying on the government for everything because that's what it's going to be in a couple of years from now. You won't even be able to go the the bathroom without the government's permission.
Don't support any of those clown parties. Support the Constitution Party, who support the people and the rights against big government.
I know this is long, but it's good. It is a letter sent to Congress, but I don't know who sent it.
Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:
One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration.
Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.
Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.
Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.
Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!
Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don't you start there.
Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.
Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why what do you have against shareholders making a profit?
Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.
Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.
Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.
Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.
Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our child

PLAN TO DEPLOY GUARD AT BORDER WORRIES MEXICO
President Bushs plan to send National Guard troops to patrol the southern border of the United States has raised the concern of his longtime ally President Vicente Fox of Mexico, who called Mr. Bush on Sunday to express his worries. White House officials said Mr. Bush assured Mr. Fox that a permanent National Guard presence on the border was not - By JIM RUTENBERG; Ginger Thompson contributed reporting from Mexico City for this article.
What is the difference between a Prime Minister and a President?
what is the difference between Prime Minister (Australia) and a President (America) ? and what can be done to make a Prime Minister like a President?
Answer: The main difference is the type of government they lead. They both have the same position, just on different types of government.
Personally, I'd much rather have a Prime Minister though. In the case of Australia and Canada (my country) the Prime Minister is not only the leader of his party but he is also the Head of Government. This means that he (or she) can not only lead the country but pretty much control what the government does. If the PM wants a bill passed to decrease taxes, increase military spending or change immigration rules they just formulate the wording of the bill and introduce it to Parliament. From there, as long as they have a majority government, they can get the bill (what ever it is) passed into law.
That is actually much more "power" then the President of the US has. All the time, being in Canada and closer to the US news then you are, we hear about different things the President wants to pass into law but he has no control over what the legislators do. His bills and his laws routinely get changed by the House and Senate, defeated by them or even passed with amendments and additions that the President may not like or support. He of course has the ability to veto things like that but at the same time the House and Senate have the ability to overturn that veto and do what they want anyway. The President is, in many cases, at the political mercy of the legislature and cannot control votes and such the way a Prime Minister can. You never hear (or very, very rarely hear) of an Australian political party member voting against what his/her party leader wants. Its actually grounds to be dismissed from caucus in many cases.
If you want your PM to be more like a President then thats your choice however I feel it's a wrong choice to make and it would only weaken the power of your PM and make the government more dysfunctional.

From Those Wonderful Folks Who Gave You Axis of Evil
AS American foreign policy lies in ruins from Pyongyang to Baghdad to Beirut, its epitaph is already being written in Washington. Last weeks Time cover, The End of Cowboy Diplomacy, lays out the conventional wisdom: the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive war, upended by chaos in Iraq and the nuclear intransigence of North Korea and Iran, is now - Frank Rich Op-Ed column says that Bush administration has used public relations strategies instead of principle and substance in Iraq war; says latest administration strategy to distract from escalating mayhem is for Bush to go on PR campaign, giving soft interviews to media; says Americans are not falling for this stunt anymore; drawing (M) - By FRANK RICH

Liberals, can you really blame conservatives for not liking your politics?
Conservatives favor America, the founding fathers, the Constitution, and all the American ideals and traditions so when peoples politics are against those things like liberals are than why would you expect conservatives to like them?
@forget. Im referring to America and not France. Thought that went without saying, sorry.
Answer: Conservatism used to be a respectable position. I never agreed with it much, but at least they made a case. Today conservatism seems to be different. At this moment, with a Democrat in the White House, conservatism simply means: We oppose anything Obama says or does or wants.
For instance, there was nothing in Obama's health care bill that hadn't been proposed by a Republican first. GHW Bush had a health care plan, so did Jack Kemp. Your precious Mitt Romney passed a plan in Massachusetts that actually went farther than Obama's. But when a DEMOCRAT proposes that more Americans should have access to health care, it's -SOCIALISM-, it's 'jamming it down our throat', it's 'a complete govt. takeover of health care'.
GHW Bush spent his whole term trying to pass NAFTA, but couldn't. Republicans in Congress constantly whined about 'Democrat obstructionism'. But when Clinton came to office and passed it fairly easily, Republicans suddenly decided it was the worst idea ever. They really wanted it badly, but they wanted even more for a Democrat not to get credit for it.
Reagan and both Bushes SWORE during their campaigns that they would make balancing the budget their highest priority. But once in office they didn't even try. They spent money like there was no tomorrow, as if debt simply didn't matter. And when this was brought up in conversation, they'd blame Democrats. Reagan and GW Bush both doubled the entire pre-existing national debt. Reagan did it in a single term! It took Bush two terms, but then it was much bigger by then. What president actually did cut spending, reduce deficits and get us on track towards a balanced budget, AND give a tax cut to to the middle class? Hint: It was the Democrat who came between the Bushes. When GW Bush got elected, he couldn't wait to undo all the good work Clinton had done.
As for the Constitution, you do realize, don't you, that the Constitution makes federal law superior to state laws? That it allows Congress to levy taxes? That it forbids states from making their own immigration policy? Maybe we're looking at different Constitutions. 8^)

How do McCain/Obama stand on illegal immigration?
My memory must be foggy because I surely dont remember hearing a clear stance by either of them. Not only are the illegals a drain on the economy and our pocketbooks, but if they can so easily breach our border patrol than so can just about anyone else. This isnt just about money, our security is at risk as well.
Answer: No kidding - they all are sucking up to the illegals and I can't for the life of me, fathom how they got this far with their positions - go to You Tube and pull up each candidate on immigration - it will make you sick - Nobama wants to give them drivers licenses and amnesy, McCain just amnesty, and all of the good candidates are gone - only hope is who McCain has as a running mate and hoping he dies quick in office since he is so old - if he has Romney or Leiberman, I'd vote for him - Nobama is talking Richardson, king of illegals -
The only saving grace in the whole thing is that Bush has been for amnesty for years now and we the people have made our congressmen aware of our feelings - misc bills for same have been defeated 4 times in 4 years - you have to get involved and defeat this threat not only to national security, but to our economy - our social programs are going bankrupt and they are talking about letting these leeches take our social security as well - Go to ALIPAC's web site and get involved - if amnesty ever got passed we are talking anarchy, seriously - we need to take this country back - is it worth getting your lawn cut cheap if you are paying them in free healthcare, education and benefits that we don't even qualify for? And the fact that they "demand" it by marching is just the straw that broke the camel's back - I was never passionate until this past year and a half - then I woke up! I hope the rest of America does too -

Do you Think that the Next GOP Candidate will have to be named ChiChi Rodriguez or Jerome Brown to be elected?
Im a conservative. But I think the GOP is going in the wrong direction. I believe that many people have no idea about politics, pending bills and legislation. They vote based on what the person looks like and what their friends and media are saying about them.
With the GOP getting so few minority votes will they ever win a Presidential election again until they make some changes?
Answer: Ah, yes, that is an excellent question. I personally do not ascribe to any political party, preferring to stay neutral, and put my faith in what I consider important to me, and those are elements from both sides.
I agree with you that the GOP is going in the wrong directions. They have allowed a radical element (the Tea Party) to dictate the edicts of the republican core, allowing no candidate to be elected to represent the party unless they passed the ultra-conservatives. This is what happened, and you got Romney.
Another thing is their beliefs. Many of their beliefs are dated, and wished back for the days of Reagan, and Nixon. Also, many of their beliefs are centered around a more white male majority. Issues about women, immigration, finance, demographics, foreign and domestic policy, are out of touch with today's populace. Once the republicans were forced to explain themselves about their beliefs (The subject of abortion for rape victims, for example), the general public got a glimpse into how archaic the GOP had become, not to mention the prevailing republican mood in the house, where Boehner declared that his only purpose was to make Obama a one term president, and instituted an obstructionistic environment.
I agree there are people that have no clue about politics, bills, or legislation, preferring to follow "family tradition" what sounds good to them, or what their friends do. Add television, newspapers, tweets, emails, etc, to the list, and you DO get a slightly better informed voter, however, but they have to take the effort of researching what they truly believe.
All in all, The GOP will have to take a GOOD LONG LOOK at America, keep up with women's issues, with demographics, and resolve the issues between the minority voters and republican values in order to rebuild the GOP, and possibly become a serious force in politics again. That, and the fact that they MUST learn to negotiate and compromise again. Without this, I think the Republican Party will not have any power in politics.
