I wrote a Conservative Christmas poem. Merry Christmas!...?
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the House
Not a Conservative was stirring, not even Newts 5th spouse
The GOP couldnt care less about the Middle Class
Herman Cain was no more, because he was tappin that azz
Payroll tax cuts were to be extended, but Republicans said,
"Working people dont count under Grover Norquists pledge!"
Their concern is about Bankers and Wall Street alike
And war contractors and military might
Americans protested, while Teabaggers tried to change the subject
Because we all could see that trickle-down has us headed toward a banana republic
Republicans threatened a government shutdown
But the media gave chase and sought them like bloodhounds
Boehner caved, and cried some more
While the Tea Party got owned on the House Floor
Obamas ratings rose, while the GOPs ratings dropped
Mitt Romney sided with both, he flipped and he flopped
So Santa will give America a present, along with his reindeer and elves
A humiliating defeat for Republicans in 2012
Answer: That's pretty clever and full of awesomeness.

Government Shutdown Nears As House Picks New Gambit ...
Unless leaders can craft a very short-term deal to buy time -- and get all 100 senators to accept it -- the government will shut down just after midnight on Monday. With details of the House bill just emerging, Senate Democrats ...
Why do rep politicians have this tendency to strive toward diminishing benefits for senior citizens?
As early as 1995/96 the rep Congress conflicted w/ Clinton insisting on reduced funding for Medicare. Clinton refused and allowed the fed gov to shut down until Congress reached a budget agreement that excluded slashing Medicare.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_government_shutdown_of_1995_and_1996
Romney/Ryan wanted to replace senior benefits w/ a voucher plan that experts predicted would cost $6000 a yr. out of pocket.
As America heads toward the fiscal cliff the reps are at it again. They are tossing a reduction in senior benefits back on the table as a means to reduce spending.
Why do they keep tossing senior citizens back under the bus?
Heres another interesting stat. I just saw how Americans want Medicare left alone ... I think it was 67%. Why do the rep politicians insist on representing diminutive percentages?
jonds- Old white men to be specific about the demographic. The reps lost the black, hispanic, asian, female and youth vote.
I bet if there was a wealthy demographic they would have won that.
gale- Medicare deductions were mandatory in every pay check. Gov made us pay for it.
And I bring this up now because its contemporary.
The 3 biggest expenditures in the budget are defense, pensions and health care. The reps instinctively focus on reducing health care benefits. Im simply asking why. Why dont they look at either of the other 2 categories?
http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/budget_pie_gs.php
Ive got the 3 main component budget slash q up in Politics where few senior citizens reside. Most of them are saying slash defense/pensions before health care.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvRgYR1ECW0Cq1k93WUoLHbsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20121128084108AANvBi6
But back to another q I asked above. The polls reveal Americans overwhelmingly want Medicare left alone. Why do the rep politicians insist on defying the prevailing sentiment in favor of representing diminutive percentages? This is a mystery beyond my ability to comprehend unless I figure corruption into the equation.
meer- I agree w/ you but realigning the politicians salary in accordance is but a grain of sand on the beach of where to slash the budget.
I asked a similar q as this a yr. or 2 ago. Back then, most of the answers were f/ people scratching their head ... they claimed to have no idea what I was talking about. I can see weve come a long way. In this answer, virtually everyone recognizes this rep proclivity and they are marching ahead w/ this desire.
Thank goodness there are dems in DC representing senior citizens as they oppose this sinister element in the rep platform.
In my other q, someone mentioned the defense budget doubled since Clinton. Clinton even presided during the war in the Baltics. However, he had UN support ... including money. GWB on the other hand, side stepped the UN twice leaving the US taxpayers to pay most of the cost. No wonder the defense budget doubled.
When the defense budget was considerably less during Clinton, who thought it was inadequate? ... not me. The politicians should be focusing there before slashing some old persons Medicare benefits.

oldman- LOL ... truth hurts ... huh. You said regardless of all my facts they mean nothing ... NOW whos being close minded?
Folks- Undoubtedly, there are some seniors reading this that would have less benefits if not for the dems in DC going to bat for them in 1995/96. Thats what the reps wanted (less benefits) ... I supplied the wiki article.
As usual, I anticipate the reps to have the short memory ... thats why I posted the link.
Understand, this is the same rep party in denial. They say they arent sexist/racist but the House Republican conference approved 19 white, all-male chairman picks recommended by Speaker John Boehner.

Notice the above article represents GOP WOMEN in opposition.
Can this party become any less united? I suspect it can because problems need to be identified before they can be fixed.
Maybe this link will work.

Where Do Babies Come From?
Outside Phnom Penh, along a road running west to Cambodias more rural provinces, sits an orphanage. It was built on a defunct rice paddy and caters exclusively to Americans wishing to adopt children. Jobs
If nothing else, John Kerry has revived the publics memory of Herbert Hoover. Again and again, the Democratic candidate has reminded people that George W. Bush has the worst record on jobs since Herbert Hoover, that Bush is in line to become the first president since Hoover to preside over a shrinking payroll, that he has stood by, - Roger Lowenstein article examines idea that jobs are either lost or created by presidents, citing Sen John Kerrys assertion that Pres Bush has worst record on jobs since Herbert Hoover; says idea that any president is responsible for job creation is myth; poses three problems with scorecard approach to job numbers: most jobs are in private sector, where president is only one of many influences over jobs; labor market does not correspond to presidential cycles; focusing on number of jobs fosters simplistic and illusory sense of presidential power, misdirecting policy toward creating jobs, which are, if anything, outcome of good policy rather than an end; photos (L) - Roger Lowenstein, a contributing writer for the magazine, is the author of Origins of the Crash: The Great Bubble and Its Undoing. - By Roger Lowenstein
